"We really wanted to build a sense of community and we thought this was a great property to do it with," said Dan Wegman, Wegmans Group President.
Along the shoreline of Lake Ontario in Kendall will soon be the home of 400 cottages. The Cottages at Troutberg is a 126 acre $40 million project that is creating 40 jobs and a three season community.
"They own their cottage and they lease the property from us. We will maintain the property. Its maintenance free living out here," said Wegman.
But not all of the cottages are the same. There are actually 16 different models that you can choose from.
"We do have things that look like a log cabin, more rustic. And then we even have things that look a little more cottagey feel," said Wegman.
You can even customize the color of the interior of the cottage. The location also has a pool. And of course, the lake.
"The half mile of lake frontage, there will be a walking path that walks that whole frontage," said Wegman.
Wegman says some of the cottages have already sold. He expects the first owners to move in by next April. Wegman says there are many more available.
The Cottages at Troutberg are having an open house the next two weekends where you can come and create your own perfect home away from home.
Wegmans says the cost of the cottages range from $60,000 to $130,000.
"We want it from small families, young families, all the way up to you know a 100 years old," said Wegman, "We just wanted to build a sense of community."
