There are more than 2,000 American Red Cross volunteers in the Finger Lakes Region, and on Wednesday, the Red Cross honored them.
The recognition and appreciation event took place at The Strong Museum of Play. Volunteers were treated to a reception and awards ceremony, all to show them that the Red Cross is thankful for everything they do.
"We couldn't do our work without volunteers. It's a volunteer that goes out in the middle of the night to respond to a fire. It's a volunteer that will take your donation when you call in at a telethon, It's a volunteer that stocks the blood drives," said Nancy Blaschak, WNY and Finger Lakes Region CEO.
Blaschak says there's more than one million Red Cross Volunteers throughout the country.
