Thirteen women who became mothers as teenagers each authored a chapter in a unique book highlighting their journeys, successes and struggles.
The book “The Journey of a Teenage Mother” explores the mothers' past fears and triumphs to help inspire all people, especially young women.
Each chapter details a different mother's personal experience with teenage pregnancy,
childbirth and raising a child as a young mother.
The ages of each woman at childbirth ranged from 14 to 20 years old.
"I reached out to all these women, all over places utilizing social media and they decided to trust me with their stories to be able to share it with the world. If you're going through any type of difficulty and you read any of these stories, it's going to make you want to get yourself together," said primary author LaShunda Leslie-Smith.
The author chose a diverse group of women from Virginia, Nevada, California, the United Kingdom and the Rochester area to be contributing authors.
