A man convicted of driving drunk the wrong way on Interstate 590 and slamming head-on into another car was sentenced Tuesday.
State Supreme Court Judge Francis Affronti sentenced Mario Carlenius to three to nine years in state prison.
Prosecutors say Carlenius' blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the November 2012 crash.
State police said drivers noticed Carlenius driving south in the northbound lane of 590. Four troopers followed his car, but could not get him to stop.
He slammed head on into a car driven by Stanislav Dutchak, who suffered permanent disabilities.
In addition to the prison time, Carlenius will have his license revoked for one year and will be required to install an ignition interlock device at the conclusion of that period.
