Demolition that was scheduled to begin Thursday on the property at the Medley Centre has once again been delayed.
Construction crews were in place Thursday to begin demolition of three dilapidated buildings on the property adjacent to the former Irondequoit mall. But, before they began, they discovered a natural gas line just inches away from one of the buildings at 1665 East Ridge Road.
Crews will now have to shut off the line. Once that is done, there will be a final meeting to make sure everyone is set.
Demolition is now expected to be sometime next week.
The demolition will mark the first major milestone in Medley Centre's redevelopment.
