Across the country and here in Rochester, kids and adults read about Otis, a friendly little tractor.
Generations Child Care was among the participants in Jumpstart's "National Read for the Record" Campaign."
Each year, adults and children across the country read the same book on the same day. This year, the chosen book was “Otis” by Loren Long.
The hope is to get kids excited about reading.
"When children don't have reading skills they can be a much as 60 percent behind other children just going into kindergarten or first grade, and because of that tough beginning they always are behind," said Katie Crane, Generations director of marketing.
The campaign began in 2006 and last year, more than two million people joined Jumpstart to set a world record.
