Many veterans say they've experienced sexual trauma in the military.
More than 84,000 vets were treated for it last year and as of March, the VA will treat all Military sexual trauma even if it was not reported to authorities.
Ken Moore of the Veterans Service Agency spoke with YNN about how you or your loved one can get help.
Military sexual trauma affects about one in five women and about one in 100 men. The VA is now allowed to treat all veterans regardless of their type of discharge, length in service and more. Everyone who claims they've been affected can be treated at the VA.
You or any family member can call the Veterans Service Agency to make an appointment to sit down and talk with a counselor about MST issues. You may even be able to file for compensation. The Veterans Service Agency in Rochester has two female and two male veteran service officers. If you feel more comfortable talking to a man over a woman, or vice-versa, they can accommodate.
