The two firefighters killed in the Christmas Eve ambush were honored at a national memorial Sunday morning.
The families of Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka were in Maryland for the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
They received flags and flowers in memory of the two firefighters shot and killed while responding to a car fire on Christmas Eve morning.
Chiapperini and Kaczowka's names will also be inscribed on an outdoor memorial.
They were among 81 fallen firefighters from across the country remembered at the service. The ceremony was originally going to be held at the outdoor national memorial, but the government shutdown forced organizers to move the location of the service.
