The Kendall man accused of trying to strike a state trooper was arraigned on a charge of attempted murder in Orleans County Court on Monday.
Authorities say Carlos Botello, 42, was driving on three tires when he was pulled over in September.
Trooper Dan Metz says Botello took off, reaching 90 miles per hour on Route 18 in Yates before he eventually stopped.
When Metz got out of his car, he said the suspect put his vehicle into reverse and accelerated towards him. Metz jumped out of the way and Botello kept driving past.
Botello was arrested soon after when he tried get out of his car and run.
"When you consider that it was an officer attempting to do his job and the response that this defendant was involved in, it's a serious situation and we feel that the bail that has been set helps protect the community," said Orleans County District Attorney Joseph Cardone.
Botello is being held on $2.5 bail.
He was also charged with DWI and fleeing from an officer.
Trooper Metz was not injured in the incident.
