It was a full house at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, as the Small Business Council held its 2013 Business Persons of the Year Gala.
Taking honors for Business Person of the Year for companies under 50 employees was Amy Castronova, president and CEO of Novatech Communications.
She applauded state efforts to help new businesses, but said more needs to be done to reward existing companies in New York.
"There's been a lot of incentives for incubators and accelerators to get businesses up and going. What I would change is making some of those privileges and benefits available for the small business, the businesses that have been here, that have teams of employees working for them and are working in tighter environments," Castronova said.
Mark Davitt, president of Conserve, was honored as the Small Business Person of the Year for companies with 50 or more employees.
