Thanks to a working smoke alarm, ten dogs were saved from a burning home in Pavilion, Genesee County.
According to firefighters, two brothers were outside cutting wood Wednesday afternoon when they heard a smoke alarm in the home going off.
They saw smoke but couldn't get into the house. When they opened the door, 10 Yorkies were able to escape.
"It was pretty easy I just opened the door. I knew they were there, I knew they were in the house. Luckily, they were in the living room by the front door. I opened the door and here they come. I shuffled them out real quick and that's about it," said homeowner Jim Bearce.
The dogs ages range from about one to five years.
