People over the age of 65 or those who are disabled now have the option to keep or switch their Medicare Advantage plans for next year.
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is offering free Medicare seminars to educate seniors about the hundreds of plans offered.
Experts say if you're turning 65 within the next year and plan to retire, make sure to contact Medicare and your Social Security office to get enrolled. If you already have Medicare, you should review your plan to see if coverage or premiums have changed and make sure all doctors and providers are in the network of the plan you're looking at.
"They should look at the existing plan that they have. See if there are any changes either in price or in benefit. Look at the other plans available to see if they're still in the best option for their unique situation," said Heather Smith, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.
Open enrollment runs through Dec. 7. For more information, click here.
