The County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency has approved plans for a major waterfront development project to proceed on Irondequoit Bay.
COMIDA gave the okay for the construction of South Point Cove. The $54 million project includes a 358 unit apartment complex to be built on 26 acres of land east of Basil's Restaurant.
The Daniele family, which owns Basil's and Mario's, says plans include 10 separate buildings connected by sidewalks, dog trails, waterfront and marina access and a clubhouse. The COMIDA approval includes sales and mortgage tax exemptions of $2,180,000.
The Daniele's are currently involved in an environmental brownfield cleanup of the property prior to construction.
