Jonathan Pender's family says his death hasn't even hit them yet.
"We talk to him everyday so it just seems like he's gonna just walk in the door, so we're still in shock. We just can't believe it," said Betsye Lane Pender.
Betsye says it's unreal what happened to her nephew at his Brighton home Sunday afternoon.
"Who could kill him? Yeah, who could kill him?" asked Betsye.
According to police Matthew Fix did, and then the 29-year-old Fix shot and killed himself.
"One thing about Jonathan. He just loved everybody and was so forgiving and so merciful. Not one person on the face of this earth disliked this guy," said Ron Lane, victim's uncle.
Pender's family says Jonathan was friends with Fix's ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of Fix's two-year old child.
"She called me when she was outside the apartment hysterical, saying Allie, my ex-boyfriend's car is here, I know he did something to Jonathan. I know he's in the apartment, something's wrong," said Alexandria Pender, victim's cousin.
Alexandria describes Jonathan as a brother. She says he was heading to their Canandaigua home for a family party Sunday.
She says she was the last one to speak with him. It was a conversation she'll forever hold on to.
"I said, 'okay, get here soon as you can I can't wait to see you' and he was like 'I'll come as soon as I can,' and that was it." she said.
YNN stopped by the Fix family home too. His father says he was too emotional to talk.
Earlier, the Police Chief in Brighton said they are still working to put the pieces together.
