The 20-year-old shot during the officer-involved shooting on Oct. 13 was discharged on Wednesday from Strong Hospital.
Police say Tyshawn Johnson ran from police and was leading a chase down Merrimac Street with another man when Johnson turned and displayed a gun. Officer Cody Goodfriend responded by firing at Johnson, hitting him in the buttocks.
Johnson is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard alleges that Johnson was armed with a sawed off .410 shotgun.
Goodfriend is assigned to administrative duties through the investigation.
