Rochester Action Sports Park cut the ribbon on a new ramp lined with foam. It is meant to create a softer landing for children learning how to skateboard, ride BMX bikes and rollerblade.
The new ramp is also expected to help minimize risk of learning new tricks.
The ramp is the only one of its kind in New York State.
"It's a bit of a risky activity. When football players go out on the field, they have padded obstacles they use to train on so, any sport you participate in that has some potential for injury, you want to prevent that injury in practice time," said park co-owner Tony Britt.
A local family donated the materials after attempting to build a similar ramp in their backyard.
