The Webster School District secretary accused of stealing money from Webster Schroeder High School is due back in Webster Town Court Tuesday to face felony grand larceny charges.
Police arrested Karen Allen, 55, on Friday after a four-month investigation showed that Allen took checks mailed to the school and then deposited them into her personal banking account. Authorities say she stole $9,200 from the school district.
She is charged with two counts of grand larceny in the third, falsifying business records and criminal posession of a forged instrument.
"It is a tentative process because we don't want to jump to conclusions. We want to be thorough. We do try to work behind the scenes to make sure that we are being accurate in our investigation and come to the right conclusions," said Lt. Dennis Kohlmeier of the Webster Police Department.
Allen was arraigned and was released on $30,000 bond.
The school district has not responded to our request for comment.
Police say she is on administrative leave from the district.
