The Fairport man who drove the wrong way on the expressway then traveled off the road and into a ravine early Saturday morning has been charged with DWI.
Police say an officer saw Robert Byrnes, 60, driving the wrong way on Interstate 490 and then watched him drive off the road and into a ravine between the 390/490 split. It happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
Byrnes was uninjured, but was taken to Strong Hospital as a precaution.
He has also been charged with reckless driving and several traffic violations.
