The Democrat and Chronicle is moving to a new site on Main Street and North Clinton Avenue in downtown Rochester.
The media group and Gannett announced the change in headquarters on Tuesday.
A letter of intent has been signed for the land adjacent to Windstream Communications.
The Democrat and Chronicle says it will take up 42,000 square feet in a new building, where they will sign a long-term lease.
Mayor Tom Richards says the announcement by the D&C is good news for downtown. In a statement, Richards said:
This is a strong expression of confidence in the City's efforts to revitalize both Midtown and Main Street. This new construction validates the City's approach to Midtown rising."
