The last two buildings on the CityGate site at the corner of East Henrietta Road and Westfall Road in Brighton are being demolished. Developers are making way for Costco, a hotel and much more.
The CityGate development will take up 45 acres of land, and construction is happening fast. Developers say Costco would like to be open for business by late summer, early fall 2014.
The remaining 30 acres will be 300 apartments on the canal, a hotel, shops and spots for commercial development.
"The City of Rochester approved the project in 62 days which is a record for the city. I think everyone realizes what Costco can bring to the area besides 300 jobs, also the economic push for the community," said site owner and developer Anthony Costello.
Costello has owned the land for eight years.
As of right now, he said, Whole Foods and Nordstrom are looking at the commercial space.
