The contract proposal that both Wegmans and Teamsters Local 118 had tentatively agreed to has been rejected again.
Wegmans says its Rochester-based distribution and transportation employees voted down the proposal for a second time. The first time was on Sept. 30.
By Oct. 12, Wegmans says, it had listened to concerns and changed the proposal accordingly. That's when a tentative agreement with the union was reached. Details of the contract were not released.
Wegmans says that throughout September, teamsters used a number of tactics to embarrass the company, including picketing at headquarters, hand-billing in stores and hiring a plane to fly over the Buffalo Bills game with the message "Wegmans wants Buffalo to lose."
We reached out to the union for comment, but have not heard back.
