Rochester Police arrested a third person in connection with a shooting that happened Sunday morning near Chili Avenue and Thurston Road. One of the victims was an 11-year-old-boy.
Police say a school resource officer at Wilson High School helped identify Michael McMurty, 19, of Rochester as the other man involved in the shooting. He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, assault in the second and reckless endangerment.
Earlier this week, police arrested and charged Quentin Singletary and Dominique Williams, both of Rochester. They are charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say Singletary and McMurty got into an altercation around 10:30 a.m. Sunday and started shooting. Singletary was shot and so was an 11-year-old boy standing nearby.
Authorities say McMurty left the scene but was later identified. Police reviewed surveillance cameras in the neighborhood, and credit community involvement with his arrest.
Police say the 11-year-old boy is doing well and is no longer in the hospital.
