A Rochester man accused of attempting to prostitute a 14-year-old girl is now facing other charges of witness tampering and attempt to assault a federal law enforcement officer.
Attorneys say Robert Palermo, 29, tried to hire a hit man to murder the teenage sex trafficking victim. They say he did it over the phone and through letters while in jail. Police used an undercover officer to pose as a hit man.
They say he also threatened to assault or murder an FBI agent who was investigating.
He could face up to another 36 years in prison if convicted of both charges.
