More than 1,000 runners hit the pavement Saturday for the 4th Annual East Avenue Grocery Run to support hunger ministries in Rochester.
Third Presbyterian Church on East Avenue held the event to raise money for its
food pantry, Saturday morning meal program and other services it offers to the Rochester community.
The church also receives donations for its programs through Foodlink and Wegmans.
"It's not just the money raised, though that's very important but its the awareness raised, it's the participation to have 1,000 people on a Saturday morning running through the city thinking about hunger is a terrific, terrific thing," said John Wilkinson, Third Presbyterian Church Pastor.
All of the proceeds will help feed hungry people in Rochester.
So far, they've raised almost $50,000.
