A recent job fair held here in the city was being promoted for women, but plenty of men showed up. The jobs in healthcare, sales and government were gender neutral and appropriate for all.

Consultants who set up at fairs to help job seekers perfect their look and style when going on an interview say they do tailor their approach.

"A lot of men just don't understand sizing. They understand putting together a suit, a shirt a tie. But they don't understand how to size it properly. With women, the problem with women is you have a plethora of everything that's out there. And it's hard to make the appropriate, correct decisions on what's appropriate for an interview," said Ann Graham of yourimagepower.com.

We first met Susan Greico at a job fair she managed last year. She says she's noticed a change in attendance.

"We're getting longer lines of job seekers and a smaller amount of companies," Greico said.

Many of those job seekers seem more and more willing to take on any position.

"Office work, good at cleaning. Just helping in any type of way. I'm really good at hands on," said job seeker Latoya Roper.

"You sort of have to take the talents that you bring from your former career to transfer that to the career that your looking to invest," said job seeker Sharon Yankowitz.

"And at first I was saying 'Oh, I don't want to do sales anymore. I wanna break into something new.' But I'm learning that you can't be picky right now. You have to start somewhere," said job seeker Cammille Ellis-Getter.

Even with increased competition and seemingly less opportunity, job fair organizers say those who attend can sometimes find hidden employment opportunities.
