Masters Golf Tournament

As has become the case with seemingly every major sporting event, being far away from a TV hardly means being far away from the action. This is certainly the case with this year's "Masters Golf Tournament."

The official Masters 2011 app has three versions, one for iPhones, one for iPads and one for Android phones. They all give up-to-the-minute scoring, video highlights, live radio coverage and plenty of stats.

The iPhone app adds five channels of live streaming -- the mid-week par 3 contest, then tournament play from 11, 12, 13 Amen's Corner, then 15 and 16, as well as a featured group on the back nine and player press conferences.

The iPad version adds on top of that live streaming of CBS' full weekend coverage.

The "Master Golf Tournament" app is free for the iPhone and Android and the iPad version is $1.99.

Tiger Woods: My Swing

If the first golf major of the year has users itching to fix their own swing, golf pro Tiger Woods now offers a hand with that via the iPhone. With "Tiger Woods: My Swing," the golfing giant gives in-depth, yet easy to understand pointers on how he hones his swing.

Users can also capture their own stroke on video to compare it to Tiger's to see what they are doing, or not doing, right. Tiger's lines can also be overlaid onto a user's swing, to get really, really solid proof on why the user is not ready to quit the day job.

The users' videos can be uploaded to Golfshot.com, where they can be saved and track a player's progress over time.

"Tiger Woods: My Swing" is right now an iPhone-only app for $9.99, though developers are
reportedly working on an Android version.
