The person who doesn't like to miss a single thing can now use a device called the "dot," described on the box by its developers as a "pocket-friendly 360-degree panoramic video thingy." The lens, which is attached over the camera of an iPhone 4 or 4s, shoots off a mirror in a way that allows users to capture video in 360-degrees, all at the same time.
When users play back that video, they can use their finger to pan around the scene to see the content from any angle, and in almost a different way almost every single time it's viewed.
The videos, once taken, can also be shared via Facebook, Twitter, or Kogeto, a website that developers of the dot created for sharing interactive, 360-degree videos.
The quality is far from what one would get from an iPhone video camera on its own, but what is missed in sharpness is more than made up by content that is captured.
The dot is available for iPhone 4 and 4s for $79. The looker app that makes it work is free.
Spotlight Digital Wireless Microphone
A new iPad peripheral for young, aspiring pop stars is Disney's "Spotlight Digital Wireless Microphone," which works with a companion app to turn an iPad into a supercharged karaoke machine.
Not only can users perform and record music, but there are built in vocal effects. Users can also record video if they are using it on an iPad2. On top of all that, in order to boost a young singer's confidence, it even offers digital pitch correction. In other words, a user can still sound good even if he or she is 100-percent tone deaf.
The app comes with 10 Disney songs but users can also sing along with any tune in their iTunes library.
Disney's "Spotlight Digital Wireless Microphone" and its companion app are out now for about $100.
