The Red Roof Inn, in New London, Connecticut is one of 21 Red Roofs along the eastern seaboard within convenient driving distance of a beach.
These hotels are now part of a summertime promotion, offering four nights for the price of three through Labor Day.
For instance, the New London hotel is about four miles from Ocean State Park which can be reached by a city bus. Red Roof offers free-WiFi, free local and long distance phone calls, coffee and a morning newspaper. It doesn’t even charge extra for dogs.
The rate is about $70 a night midweek. To see what other Red Roofs are participating in the beach deal, visit redroof.com and look for the Great Red Roof Beach Promotion.
Marriott Residence Inns also have hotels within close proximity to the beach, such as the one in Middletown, Rhode Island. It is under two miles away from downtown Newport and the beaches.
Residence Inns are designed for extended stays and get cheaper the longer you book. The rooms are spacious with a pullout couch for kids and include a kitchenette which will further help families economize. WiFi here is free also.
One really nice perk is the buffet breakfast that features its trademark do-it-yourself waffles, almost as fun as building a sandcastle. It also has an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and weight room. There’s a self-service laundry as well.
Midweek rates at Marriott Residence Inn Newport Middletown are $244 a night for the best available room and offers a $75 restaurant gift card.
