As part of a trial run for the month of July, the SeaStreak Ferry at Manhattan's Pier 35 is making weekend roundtrip voyages from New York City to New London, Connecticut with bus service straight to Mohegan Sun.
"Sixty-nine dollars and that's a roundtrip. You get a $20 bet at Mohegan Sun, a $20 voucher for either a buffet of Johnny Rockets, they have plenty of food up there," explains passenger Blair Green.
The vast casino and entertainment complex is in the midst of a Hot Summer Fun promo that features everything from food and drink specials, to free gaming contests, a lineup of concerts as well as separate themes every day of the week.
On Wild Wednesdays for instance, non-gamblers and families alike can enjoy the spread on the rooftop of the Riverview Garage. It offers everything from a farmers market, to live bands, to a classic car show. The night ends with fireworks.
On Thursdays at the top of every hour, the highest blackjack hand at every table receives a free bet.
Accommodations aren’t included with the SeaStreak Ferry ticket, but there is a separate deal called the Welcome Wellness package, which includes your room, a 50-minute spa treatment and breakfast. The package costs $135.00 per person, based on double occupancy. For more information, visit www.mohegansun.com.
Mohegan Sun is located in Uncasville, Connecticut and is 128 miles from New York and about a two and a half hour drive without traffic. Both Amtrak and Metro North have connecting shuttle service.
