With its Frank Gehry showstopper known as the Fisher Center and Olafur Eliasson’s Parliament Of Reality, the campus of Bard College in the Hudson Valley is performing arts in itself.

Despite those impressive installations, it will be difficult to upstage this year’s lineup for Bard Summerscape or the venerable Bard Music Festival, that together offer a combined seven weeks of entertainment starting in early July on the leafy college campus.

Susana Meyer, the associate director for the Fisher Center, says this year’s program has a French twist.

"The Compagnie Fetes Galantes from France is going to do three performances and then from there we open the theater with the Moliere piece 'The Imaginary Invalid' and after that, the opera 'The King In Spite Of Himself,'" says Meyer.

If that seems like a heady dose of culture for kids, check out the lively Spiegeltent.

"The Bindlestiff Family Circus, they do children’s shows as well. Saturdays at 3:30 and Sundays at 3:30, they do the children’s shows. They assemble different acts every year, They bring different skills maybe an aerial artist, or sword swallowers," says Meyer.

Just 90 minutes from Manhattan, Summerscape tickets are miles away from Midtown prices. A 25-percent discount is available when ordering four or more events with each subscription and seniors get 20 percent off single tickets.

For specific performances, ticket holders can hop on a bus directly from Lincoln Center, while shuttles operate from the Poughkeepsie train station.
