Lazy Acre Alpaca and the Gentleman Farmer

Alpaca Country is a gift shop in the village of Pittsford that specializes in clothing made from alpaca fleece. Alpaca fleece is said to be five times stronger than cotton and twice as soft.

Mark Gilbride owns Alpaca Country. He raises the furry animals at Lazy Acre Alpacas, his farm in West Bloomfield.

In the spring, Gilbride will sheer the fleece and ship it to a co-op in Peru. There it is turned into fine clothing, hats and socks.

The items are shipped back to Gilbride and finally to Alpaca Country in Pittsford.
