Squash and cucumbers blossom

Squash and cucumbers blossom
We now have blossoms! The squash and cucumber plants have flowered with yellow blossoms that should eventually turn to fruit. We'll have to wait and see since sometimes all you get are the flowers and no squash or cukes. But the plants seem to be doing quite well and we should see some vegetables from them.

We also repotted the squash plants this week to give them more room to grow by moving them to some larger containers. This should give the vines room to roam.

All of our other veggies are doing great. Our peas continue to wind their way up the stakes we placed in their containers and our tomato plant seems to be doing better since pruning the "suckers" last week.

By the way, I tasted a bit of the lettuce this week and it still has a way to go before it reaches flavor perfection. In other words, the lettuce was less than desirable but it's still quite young. It should be a few more weeks before it's ready to harvest.

This week a YNN viewer sent us some photos of their container garden on their deck. Nice snaps of what you can do with potted plants. You can find them on our Facebook page.

If you have photos you'd like to show off send them to us at web@ynn.com. We'll share them on the worldwide web!
