ALBANY, N.Y.--New York State Senator Hiram Monserrate could be bounced from office.
A special senate committee is recommending either expelling or reprimanding Monserrate. His lawyer says there is no legal ground for expulsion.
Monserrate was convicted of misdemeanor assault for dragging his girlfriend, but he was acquitted of felony charges.
His girlfriend's face was slashed by broken glass during the incident.
Monserrate says he won't give up his job, even if the state senate expels him.
