ALBANY, N.Y. -- A source in the Senate says a vote on Senator Hiram Monserrate's future is likely to come on Tuesday - but it is unclear what that resolution will be. The Queens Democrat was convicted of misdemeanor assault stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend in December of 2008.

Following his conviction, a Senate committee formed to investigate the allegations against Monserrate issued a report recommending the Senate vote to expel or censure Monserrate.

Last week, Long Island Democrat Brian Foley submitted a resolution to expel Monserrate.

Senate Democratic Leader John Sampson said he will bring a resolution to the floor relating to Monserrate, but he refuses to say what that resolution will be.

If Monserrate is expelled, the Democrats will lose their slim 32-seat majority and will no longer have enough members to pass legislation on their own.
