Two Pittsford residents met by the Erie Canal to announce their candidacies for Pittsford Town Council and to discuss their campaign platforms.
Terry Steg and Pam Cooper-Vince will run on the Democratic line Nov. 5, making the first contested Town Council election for Pittsford in years.
Steg and Cooper-Vince highlighted their visions and ideas for the future of Pittsford.
"I would like to see the government be a little bit more transparent, make sure we have an openness so that we can get every possible input before a decision in made," said Cooper-Vince.
"Pittsford is a great place to live. I would like to keep it that way. I have experience in education and I would like to use that to make Pittsford affordable, make sure it's not overdeveloped like some other communities around here," said Steg.
Democrats have not won a Pittsford Town Council seat in at least 40 years.
