Salak Likely To Start Game One

By: Kevin Carroll

Reinforced and
ready for a run in
the post season, the
Rochester Americans
were on the ice preparing
for their first round
meeting with
Abbotsford.

Out of the Stanley
cup playoffs, the
Florida Panthers sent
seven players back to
Rochester Monday.

Among them, Tyler
Plante. The AHL's
goalie of the month
in March made the
case that he should
be the starter this
week, but it looks as
though Alexander
Salak will be between
the pipes for game
one against the Heat.

Salak had a great
start to the season
eventually finishing
with a 29-14 record
and a 2.89 goals
against average.
"It's disappointing but
it's playoff time and
everyone has a role,” said Plante.
“You have to fill
those roles. Sally
had a great year and
coach decided to go
with him so I'm going
to support that and
be there for my
teammates."

"At the
start of this season,
coach asked me how
many games I want to
play and I said if
you feel good with me
in the net then play
me,” added Salak. “That's going to
be the same for the
playoffs as in the
season so I think my
game's not going to
change."
