Amerks Hall Of Famer To Coach Bulldogs
Rochester Americans Hall of Famer Randy Cunneyworth has been named head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Cunneyworth spent nine seasons with the Amerks, including seven as head coach from 2000 to 2008. During that time the Amerks had three 40-plus win seasons, two 100-point seasons and six playoff berths. As a player Cunneyworth helped the Amerks win the Calder Cup in 1993.
"As a member of the Rochester Americans formerly, we played the Hamilton Bulldogs
a few times and I have the utmost respect for this franchise,” said Cunneyworth. “I think
what excites me the most I think is the fact that I'm in Canada once again and
we know how feverish the fans are and how excited they are to watch a team play
hockey.”
Cunneyworth was an assistant coach with the National Hockey League's Atlanta Thrashers over the past two years.
