Weber Named Amerks Head Coach
The Rochester Americans announced that the club has hired Chuck Weber as head coach for the upcoming season. Weber becomes the 28th head coach in the history of the franchise.
Weber, 37, was the Vice President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) the last four seasons. The Lockport, NY native led his team to the league finals three of his four years, capturing the ECHL Kelly Cup in 2008 and 2010.
"I grew up
watching the Amerks,
only from an hour
outside of Rochester.
I grew up playing
against the Rochester
Junior Amerks,” said Weber. “For me
it's exciting. My dad
is going to get to
see me coach the most
he's ever in the past
eleven years. I'm
proud to be western
New Yorker. Wherever
I've gone it's
something I've talked
about. Being from
this area it's always
a part of you. Now
being able to bring
it home and kind of
create another story
here for the Amerks
is really exciting."
Weber, a 1995 graduate of the University of Albany was a member of the Great Danes hockey program.
