Averin Collier has rejoined the Syracuse football team but is ineligible to play this season.
The Running Back out of Churchville-Chili can practice and workout with the team, but can not play in games until next year if his grades improve.
Earlier this month Syracuse announced that Collier would not be with the team due to academic issues.
“It’s a blow to the football team not having him,” said head coach Doug Marrone. “I think he was a very good player. He showed that he was a play maker last year for us and we were counting on him so we’re disappointed he’s not with us and hopefully now we can get him back on track and see where we are and evaluate after the season is over for the spring.”
In 2009 Collier rushed for 82 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns.
