DJ3K fan in Watertown for girlfriend's birthday
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. The man who caught Derek Jeter's milestone 3,000th hit and gave the ball back is still getting the celebrity treatment everywhere he goes. It was no different in Watertown, where Christian Lopez spent the weekend. Our Brian Dwyer caught up with him.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- It was a dream of a birthday gift. Christian Lopez in that seat, catching that ball because his girlfriend got him the tickets for the big 23.
Lopez, who graduated from St. Lawrence University last year, was in Watertown over the weekend to celebrate her birthday. A tough act to follow.
"I don't think there is a gift I can get to match this. I'll try my best," he said.
One of Lopez's first stops was the bank is girlfriend works at. Everyone wanting to meet the new star.
"Grown adults coming up to me and saying, 'Hey, my kid looks up to you.' Or a gentlemen asking me for a signature. That's just touching to me," he said.
And even those who didn't meet him, couldn't stop talking about him. Matt McClusky hosts a local sports talk show on WNER 1410. He says people love the guy.
"I think everyone responds to that," McClusky said. "I think they look at him and think he handled it beautifully. Probably better than I would have. He's kind of a star."
Of course that doesn't mean everyone would have done what he did: Give the ball back to Jeter.
"I don't think anyone understands the situation, but overall the definite reaction was, 'I would have kept it and I would have gone to eBay or I would have gone to some type of auction site and made a lot of money," McClusky added.
But Lopez didn't. And he's now a part of Yankee lore. Enough that some of his girlfriend's co-workers think there's one other thing he could do at The Stadium.
"The proposal idea, it's a little too soon for that," Lopez said with a giant smile on his face.
"I think he absolutely has to propose at Yankee Stadium and quite frankly, the Yankees should hook him up. For the rest of his life, A: He cannot break up with her and B: he's probably going to owe her forever," McClusky added.
Lopez, though, didn't rule out a stadium proposal for the future.
Lopez says he actually turned down a movie role, a cameo as a zombie, because it might be shot in October. But because the Yankees gave him tickets to every home game for the rest of the year, including the postseason, he wants to be in New York then should the Bombers make the World Series.
