BUFFALO, N.Y. — Grabbing a shootout win in New Jersey Tuesday night, the Sabres got the rest of the week off for the All-Star break. The team will get back at it next Tuesday as they close there current seven-game road trip at the Montreal Canadiens.
A sight for sore eyes in the Sabres 2-1 win at the Devils was the play of goalie Ryan Miller. Under a lot of heat this season, Miller looked back to All-Star form coming up big with saves in regulation, overtime, and in the shootout.
In the end, Miller finished with 27 saves on the night, leading the way for the Sabres as they finally snapped their 12-game road losing streak.
"I mean those are the type of saves that turn it around for you. We've been talking about a big game and you know, typically you get out of these things with a 1-0 or a 2-1 game and, well, that's what happened," said head coach Lindy Ruff.
"I finally got a breakthrough there, and the guys played a responsible game, and I think we'll start to see more chances as we start to get a better grip on the way we need to play. We'll get a little more offense and those chances will start to even out for us," Miller said.
