SU Orange holds off WVU for 22nd win
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Syracuse men's basketball team is still unbeaten at home.
The Orange held off West Virginia Saturday, though it was a controversial ending.
A no-call on a goal-tending helped Syracuse hold onto their two-point lead with just six seconds left. West Virginia had one last chance to win the game but came up short on a three-pointer.
The fourth ranked Orange improve to 22 and 1 on the season.
Coach Jim Boeheim is also now up to 878 wins, putting him one victory away from tying North Carolina’s Dean Smith for third "most wins in Division One history."
He will get a chance to tie that record when SU plays at Saint John’s next Saturday.
