Waiters, Nicholson, Melo All First-Rounders
Local sports fans watched three very familiar names get taken in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night.
Dion Waiters was taken at #4 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Syracuse guard was a catalyst off the bench for the Orange all year.
Andrew Nicholson was taken at #19 by the Orlando Magic. The St. Bonaventure big man led the Bonnies into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the year 2000, and is considered the best Bonnies player since Hall of Famer Bob Lanier.
Former Syracuse center Fab Melo was selected by the Celtics at pick #22. Melo had a strong sophomore season, but due to academics, was unable to play during the NCAA Tournament.
