Mario Williams Ready for Bills Debut
It will be a battle of what may turn out to be two of the top defenses in the league, when the Bills take on the Jets to open the season this Sunday in the Meadowlands. Jets head coach Rex Ryan has had his unit near the top since taking over.
If the Bills want to start to challenge in the AFC East, the defense will play a big roll. It starts with the guys up front. A lot is expected of a group that includes a former Pro Bowler in Kyle Williams, a first-round pick in Marcell Dareus. And the big pickup this off-season - free agent Mario Williams who finally gets to make his regular season Bills debut.
"For us up front, and myself especially, is get after the quarterback," Williams said. "Getting after the quarterback, but also stopping the run. Whether it is on the way to the quarterback or just obviously knowing if it is a run or not. I think the biggest thing for me is just balling. It is just about finally getting out here on a real Sunday and getting after it."
"I am eager to see him," head coach Chan Gailey said. "I am eager to see everybody. We all know that the intensity level goes up a notch now. It is going to be interesting to watch everybody play. It gets different when you get to the regular season - to real games."
