LEWISTON, N.Y. — There's new leader of the athletic program at Niagara University. Tom Crowley was named the Purple Eagles athletic director and was introduced at a news conference Thursday.
Crowley spent past five seasons as an associate athletic director at Butler University in Indiana, where he was associated with the highly successful men's basketball program that made trips to the Final Four.
"We want to be the best that we can be," said Crowley. "And we're trying to provide meaningful experiences for student athletes, and I'm not embarrassed to say that we'd like to win too. You can do both."
Crowley had stints in the athletic departments at Temple and Vermont, and even played against Niagara men's basketball coach Joe Mihalich while in college at Penn.
"I think what he can show us all, all the coaches here, is there's a right way to do things, there's a way you can be successful," said Mihalich. "And I think he can show all of us coaches, young, old, how to be successful as you can possibly be."
