Lancers fall to the Blast

By: YNN Staff

The Rochester Lancers struggles continued on Saturday night as they fell to the Baltimore Blast for the second night in a row. Rochester could not get going offensively losing this time by a 15-5 score. For the Lancers it marks their fifth consecutive loss and the fourth to the Blast this season.

Rochester looked as though they might turn their recent struggles around as Mauricio Salles put the Lancers up with a three-point goal late in a defensively played first quarter to give Rochester a 3-0 lead.

Baltimore’s J.T. Noone jump started the Blast attack scoring back-to-back tallies to give Baltimore a 4-3 midway through the second quarter. Rochester’s Rey Martinez gave Rochester the lead once again at 9:21 of the second quarter. That however would be all the Lancers could muster as Rochester wouldn’t find the net during the remainder of the night. Lucas Roque regained the lead for good for the Blast with three minutes remaining in the half, making the score 6-5 for the home side.

The third quarter wouldn’t see much action as Machel Millwood scored the quarter’s only goal before adding another to start the final stanza, that being a three-pointer to make the score 11-5. Tony Donatelli and Lucio Gonzaga rounded out the scoring for the Blast as they defeated the Lancers 15-5 in front of 4,765 at 1st mariner Arena in Baltimore.

Rochester drops to 5-9 on the season and will return home to face the Syracuse Silver Knights next Saturday, January 12th at 7:00 p.m.
