This training camp is Mikhail Grigorenko's chance to show the Sabres he deserves a shot in the NHL.

The organization drafted him 12th overall in last spring's draft. The Russian center has 50 points in 32 junior games so far this year and scored 6 points in 7 games at the World Juniors while leading his home country to bronze.

Grigorenko told the media Sunday that at this point it would be best for his development if he had a chance to stay in the NHL.

“If I play in juniors, I can't watch those guys and I can't compare myself to them. It's kind of hard to learn from them. But if I'm with them every practice, I can learn so much stuff on the ice and off the ice too,” Grigorenko said.
