Lancers Fall Short Against Missouri
The Rochester Lancers were in Kansas City last night to take on the Missouri Comets.
Leo Gibson had a 17 point game to lead the Comets past the Rochester Lancers by a score of 30-17. The Lancers were led offensively by Mauricio Salles with six points and MISL leading scorer Doug Miller with five points.
Missouri took control of the game early as Gibson had a three goal hat trick before the end of the first quarter. Rey “Boom Boom” Martinez scored a goal that made the Comets lead 8-2 after fifteen minutes of play.
The Lancers were able to outscore Missouri 11-9 in the second quarter thanks to a pair of goals for Miller and goals from Martinez, Salles, and Pedrinho. But, Missouri still led 19-13 at the half thanks to goals by Lucas Rodriguez, Cristiano, Vahid Assadpour, and Brian Harris.
Salles and Gibson scored the only goals of a slower third quarter. After which, the Comets led 22-15.
After Evan McNeley scored early in the fourth quarter for the Lancers, the Comets put the game away. Gibson scored twice and Cristiano and Coady Andrews scored goals to put the game away for the host side.
With eight goals by the Lancers this evening Dunkin Donuts will donate eight pounds of coffee to Foodlink. So far this season Dunkin Donuts has donated 100 pounds of coffee.
The Lancers will return to action on Friday, January 25th when they visit the Baltimore Blast at 7:35 pm at Mariner Arena. The Lancers will return home to Christopher J. Wilmot Field at the Blue Cross Arena on Sunday, January 27th when they host the Missouri Comets at 1 pm.
