Section V Girls Basketball Top Seed Luncheon

It's a unique event in New York State girls basketball. Every season, Section V honors their number one seeds with a luncheon.

With the tournament starting on Saturday, this year's seedings luncheon fell on Valentine's Day.

This was the first banquet hosted by new Section 5 coordinator Tim Lincoln. The former Waterloo girls coach took over for Kelly Bissell this season.

This was the first luncheon for Class AA1 top seed Gates-Chili. The Spartans have been in the finals for the past three seasons but never as the top seed.

Defending champion Hilton is the number one seed in AA2. The Cadets came on late to overtake Irondequoit.

Pittsford Mendon, the A top seed, have been in the finals the past two seasons, winning the title in 2011.

To the Bs, and B1 is Waterloo with one loss, while B-2 number one seed is Greece Odyssey.

Three Class C divisions, led by 2011 State Champion Gananda is C-1, defending Class C rep Perry in C-2 and three-time finalist Keshequa in C-3.

Class D-1 is led by defending State Champion Elba, winners of 41 straight games, and Whitesville is number one in D-2.

Play starts with the Class C first round games on Saturday.
