Canisius Upsets Niagara to Head to Atlantic Hockey Final
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Canisius hockey sprung another upset in the Atlantic Hockey tournament, defeating rival Niagara 5-3 in the semifinals from Blue Cross Arena.
Tyler Wiseman scored twice for the Griffs while Duncan McKellar struck for the go-ahead score late in the second period, breaking a 3-3 tie. Canisius, the 7th seed, advances to Saturday's final.
Giancarlo Iuorio scored twice in defeat for the No. 14/15 Purple Eagles, the top seed. They will now await news of a potential at-large NCAA bid during Sunday's selection show.
